Emily Irene VanCamp, who was originally a professional dancer, became attracted to acting after she visited her sister Katie on the Ladies Room set. As she took acting classes and directing, she was also offered the roles of guest stars on TV series. She starred in a variety of shows, including in the series Are You Scared Of the Dark? Radio Active and Dice. VanCamp had a career breakthrough following his appearance as main character Sam Dolan on the WB Horror Mystery show Glory Days. The show was cancelled after nine episodes despite receiving favorable ratings. The May 12th, 1986 actress quickly secured another part in Everwood. Her character Amy Abbott is one of the principal characters. The role resulted in her being nominated for a Young Artist Award nominee and for four Teen Choice Awards.
